About 200 personalities and institutions received the 500 Anniversary of Santiago de Cuba Award, for their contributions to the economic, cultural and social development of the former village, founded in 1515 by Diego Velázquez.
Raúl Fornés, President of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power, presented the medals to principals, teachers, researchers, actors, journalists, builders, doctors, transporters and others in recognition of his contributions, inseparable from the heritage and traditions of this city.
