Havana, Feb 1 (Prensa Latina) To confirm the development of the recreational navigation in Cuba, an interesting start linking the United States and this country, the Conch Republic Regatta, is taking place these days.
As a sports and tourist element, a symbol of the new times, the regatta departed from Key West coast, traveling to the island through Key West-Varadero-Havana-Key West, with closing stage from Feb. 1 to 5.
Precisely this was a prohibited destination for the American sailors since 1961, now with a new look after the restoration of diplomatic relations between Washington and Havana.
The commodore of the "Ernest Hemingway" International Club in Cuba, Jose Miguel Diaz Escrich, clarifies that this is not the first time this race is done, but this will be the first one held with the approval of the U.S. government.
The regatta started from January 28 in Key West, where several boats sailed to the Marina Gaviota in Varadero, where the Copar Varadero Litoral regatta took place.
