Havana, Jul 13 (Prensa Latina) Cuba will continue defending fair causes, but the struggle against the US economic, financial and trade blockade of the island is a priority, said today the president of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Kenia Serrano.
The struggle against that policy, which has been in force for more than half a century, has become a priority, Serrano highlighted when presenting a report issued by the ICAP on the movement of solidarity with Cuba at the Commission of International Relations of the National Assembly of People's Power, at Havana's Conference Center.
Serrano said that it was necessary for this stage, to do a more efficient work through international solidarity, which besides fighting the blockade, could help us spreading the truth about Cuba, especially the achievements regarding human rights.
Cuba's friends could denounce the subversive plans implemented by the United States, Serrano added.
She recalled that the Caribbean island's Constitution includes solidarity and the struggle for world peace.
Thus, she called to redouble the support to the process of changes that is being carried out in Venezuela and other Latin American nations.
She also called to support the struggle for the release of political prisoners, as Puerto Rican Oscar Lopez, and the causes of the Palestinian and the Saharan people.
In that context, Serrano ratified the Cuban stance, through the ICAP, to continue the struggle against poverty, inequality and violations of human rights in any place in the world.
