US,Cuban Jazz Maestros Share Experiences in Havana

jazzHavana, Mar 24.- Maestros Joaquin Betancourt (Cuba), and Dave Hagedorn (United States), will give magisterial lectures today related to the development of jazz bands, on occasion of the First International Conference dedicated to that kind of music groups. The dialogue and the demonstrations between the two directors extend the possibilities of the event that brings together students from art schools of Cuba and St. Olaf College, of Minnesota, the United States.

The performance of the Jazz Band of the Cuban Guillermo Tomas Conservatory will also take place that day.

The meeting, to be run until Friday, Mar. 25, will include concerts and discussion spaces relating to world peace and the role of musical genre to bring about changes in the society.

Students from the two nations will be capable of coming together and sharing jam sessions and workshops planned in different locations in the province of Matanzas and Havana, such as the Mella Theater,the ALBA Culture Center in Havana, the Higher Institute of Art, the Amadeo Roldan Conservatory and the Guillermo Tomas Music School.
