French Film Festival Begins in Cuba Today

francescubaHavana, Apr 29 (Prensa Latina) The world premiere of "The Outsider" by French filmmaker Christophe Barratier, opens today the 19th edition of the French Film Festival in Cuba.
The festival, scheduled until May 21st, offers screenings of classic films and the presentation of movies filmed between 2014 and 2016.

This is a long-awaited event by national moviegoers due to the variety and exclusivity of its proposals.

The documentary "Huracan," directed by Cyril Barbançan, Andy Byatt and Jacqueline Farmer, will be premiered during the festival.

The film brings movie lovers close to the destructive force of hurricanes and their role in the balance of life on planet Earth.

Thrillers, detective movies, biographies, comedies and dramas make up the wide range of film genres to be screened during the festival. They will also facilitate the exchange between filmmakers and French actors.

Many of the films to be shown during the event have won important awards in international competitions, such as "La ley del Mercado." The film received the Audience Award at the European Cinema Festival in Brussels.

The festival is considered the backbone of the Month of French Culture in Cuba, an initiative by French President, Francois Hollande. This project will reach the Caribbean island for the first time through music, exhibitions, theater, dance, architecture and digital art, among other proposals.
