Cuban Contemporary Dance at Alicia Alonso Theater in May

danza contemporaneaHavana, May 11 (Prensa Latina) With premieres and revivals, Danza Contemporanea de Cuba will return to the Alicia Alonso Great Theater > over the weekend, in the wake of its successful first season this year, organizers announced.
As part of the program Mayo Teatral, the company will revive on May 13, 14 and 15 "El Cristal" by Julio Cesar Iglesias; "Cenit" by Laura Domingo; and "Matria Etnocentra" by George Cespedes.

On May 20-22, this company, internationally known for the excellent technique of its dancers, will also present for the first time "Audition Room" by British choreographer Theo Clinkard; "Cuban Tangos" by British Billie Cowie and "Identity-1" by Cuban George Cespedes.

The works by British artists are a result of the British/Cuban project of choreographic creation Islas Creativas (Creative Islands), developed by Danza Contemporanea de Cuba and the British Council.

This season will pay tribute to late Cuban musician Sergio Vitier, who directed the company, formerly known as Danza Nacional de Cuba, in > 1978-1983 and created the music for renowned local choreographers like Nerys Fernández, Víctor Cuellar, Eduardo Rivero, Arnaldo Patterson, Marianela Boán and Rosario Cárdenas, among others.
