Havana, May 12 (Prensa Latina) A concert by soprano Barbara Hendricks and the opening of a photographic exhibition by Georges Rousse stand out here today as two of the main attractions of the French Culture Month in Cuba.
Considered a genuine defender of French music, the American singer will perform today at the Minor Basilica of the Convent of St. Francis of Assisi in Havana, accompanied by saxophonist, Magnus Lindgren, guitarist Ulf Englund and the Romeu String Chamber Music Group.
Hendricks, awarded with the Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts in 2000, not only plays classical works, but also contemporary jazz and blues pieces.
For his part, Rousse will exhibit as of today a selection of his work at the Cuban Art Factory. The display was characterized by mixing elements of painting, architecture and sculpture in order to change the appearance of open spaces.
About 20 large-format printings will lead the audience through the creative universe of the French artist, who transforms an area chosen for his qualities in a fiction area.
Scheduled until May 31, the first edition of the French Culture Month in Cuba brings together in Havana several expressions of art related to music, theater, dance and architecture.
