Cuban Youth Congress Delegates Begin Committees Work

Havana, July 18 (Prensa Latina) The five working committees of X Congress of the Union of Young Communists (UJC) today began their sessions to discuss issues of interest to that piece of Cuban society.
The more than 600 delegates and guests discuss matters related to the new scenarios in the defense of the country, will assess the changes in the political organization of young people, the cultural consumption and recreation, as well as the changes in the educational system.
As a prelude to these analyzes participants in the great event held youth exchanges with authorities and officials from various departments of the country.
Among the issues discussed was the policy of computerization of Cuban society, including increasing access to the Internet for both Cuban citizens as educational and health centers.
Deputy Minister of Communications, José Luis Perdomo updated delegates on the projection of the island to the development of new technologies and access, planned for 2020.
Perdomo said that the wide-band network with high capacity to transfer information focuses Cuban politics as infrastructure that will provide a platform for that computerization.
He added that it is necessary to create the foundation to ensure its sustainability by the existence of a legal framework and a reasonable national cybersecurity.
He also stressed that technological obsolescence, the low level of research and development in the sector and the high cost of services are some of the barriers that must exceed the process.
Perdomo added that, currently, there are 35 zones wireless (Wi-Fi) and about three million people have access to such connectivity.
However, he said, prices remain high for the population so that authorities works to promote a link between rates and services offered.
For his part the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Margarita Gonzalez announced relaxations in meeting new social service for college graduates.
Gonzalez explained that from September graduates beginning their careers could directly occupy a place in their workplace and thus receive the salary, may also do it in state institutions or cooperatives.
The Minister said that the leadership of the government makes every effort to train the workforce, which is carried out according to the demand with a study conducted every year in order to anticipate in advance the economic needs of the country in terms of growth.
The upcoming July 19 concludes this Youth Congress that takes place in Havana's Convention Palace.
