Call for Unesco José Martí International Award

marti joseParis, July 22 (Prensa Latina) The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) today launched the call for the José Martí International Award, established in 1994 in recognition of the universal value of the ideals of the Cuban National Hero.
The prize, to be awarded in 2016, aims to promote and reward an activity of outstanding merit that, in accordance with the ideals and spirit of José Martí, contribute in any region of the world to the unity and integration of countries of America America and the Caribbean.

Also, it contributes to the preservation of their identities, cultural traditions and historical values.

It may be granted to a person, group of persons, institutions and other entities or NGOs.

The prize was first awarded in 1995, the centenary of the death in combat of the Apostle of the independence of Cuba.

It has been received by personalities like the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, Brazilian writer and religious Dominican Frei Betto and Argentine political scientist Atilio Boron.
