Issues such as the proper use of species living in the seas, coastal erosion management, environmental pollution and management, as well as climate change, will focus the debates during the second day of MarCuba 2018.
Also on the list is the influence of climate and extreme, meteorological and seismic events, with coastal ecosystems and the population, as well as the technologies applied in monitoring and forecasting these events.
Opened on Monday, October 15, with a keynote speech on the state of the Caribbean beaches in the future scenarios of climate change, given by Cuban expert Jose Luis Juanes, the congress brings together biologists, zoologists, oceanographers and other specialists from Cuba, the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile and Portugal.
Under the motto 'Today's sciences in the interest of future coasts and seas,' one of the meeting's objectives is to discuss the main challenges of these large areas of water, covering almost a third of the planet's surface.
Havana, Oct 16 (Prensa Latina) The members of the national aquarium of Cuba and the United States working on the conservation in the Gulf of Mexico, are discussing on Tuesday the protection of these ecosystems, during the 11th Congress on Marine Sciences.
