Santiago de Cuba, Jul 25 (Prensa Latina) President of the Municipal Assembly of the People''s Power (parliament), Raul Fornes, thanked Venezuela and Ecuador for their solidarity in assisting the province to face damages caused by Hurrican Sandy in year 2012.
During a solemn session on occasion of the 500th anniversary of the foundation of Santiago De Cuba, Fornes appreciated the support from different parts of the world and particularly from these two Latin American countries, mainly in the construction of houses.
He referred to the 560 houses built by forces of the Ecuadorian army and the construction equipment donated by the Venezuelan government, with modern technology leading to cut time in building the houses.
Over 3,000 new houses have been built for the victims of Hurricane Sandy and to eliminate poor neighborhoods.
The solemn sesison, attended by first vice president Miguel Dias Canel and Vice President Jose R. Machado Ventura, highlighted the heroism and example of the historical leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro and President Raul Castro.
