Havana,(Prensa Latina) The 5th edition of the Triathlon of Havana is held today in both genders, with the participation of more than half a thousand competitors from 35 countries.
The competition had as its starting point the Hemingway Marina - in the west of the city - and finishes in the emblematic National Hotel, near the popular Havana Malecon.
According to Alejandro Puerto, president of the Cuban Federation of this sport, the presence of powerful triathletes from Mexico, the United States, Japan and Spain stands out in the fair.
Cuba, led by Leslie Amar and the male champion of the last two years, Michel Gonzalez, will be represented by 19 athletes in the Olympic modality.
On this occasion, Puerto said, triathletes compete higher quality than in previous versions, which gives the fair more prestige and competitiveness.
In total, 525 participants cheer on the fifth Havana Triathlon.
The race includes the Ibero-American Medium Distance Championship (1.9 km of swimming, 90 km of cycling and 21 km of running), as well as the sprint and popular medium distance (750 m of swimming, 20 km of cycling and five of running) and the America's Cup (1.5 km of swimming, 40 km of cycling and 10 km of running), the latter will award points for the ranking.
Once again, the prizes that will be awarded to the winners will be original works by Cuban artists, among them the National Prize of Plastic Arts, Eduardo Roca 'Choco'.
