Chilean Ambassador Pays Courtesy Visit to Prensa Latina

Havana, Mar 8 (Prensa Latina) Chile''s ambassador to Cuba, Mauricio Hurtado Navia, paid a courtesy visit to Prensa Latina Friday addressing the historical ties between the two countries and potential areas of cooperation.

Hurtado Navia, who has headed the southern country's diplomatic mission in Havana for the past six months, held an interview with Prensa Latina President Luis Enrique Gonzalez, to whom he expressed his desire to exploit ties in the diffusion and collaboration field.

The next visit to Cuba of the mayors of the Chilean Association of Municipalities (AChM) and the last stay in Havana of a parliamentary delegation, headed by Deputy Maya Fernandez Allende, were mentioned by the diplomat.

He also commented on the presence of Prensa Latina in Chile covering the most outstanding events, including the September 11, 1973 coup d'état that overthrew Salvador Allende from power.

Prensa Latina President, for his part, expressed the news agency's willingness to cooperate in areas such as documentary production, photography and informational materials related to Chile, a nation where this media has had a correspondent for more than four decades.
