Havana, Jul 29 (Prensa Latina) Cuba pharmacies will commercialize soon the diagnostic test HeberFast Line® MaternitiTest II, a simple, convenient and fast method to confirm the possibility of pregnancy in women.
It is a product from the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of Sancti Spiritus, which will be sold since August, around the entire country with no prescription needed, in order to provide women of childbearing age (12-49 years old) increased accessibility to an input with an accuracy level above 99 percent.

The product, whose result is obtained in only 10 minutes, is presented with a box containing a aluminum strip with a desiccant bag for storage and a prospect, say specialists from Heber Biotec, distributor for the Center.

The test is done after 72 hours of menstrual delay, in which period the amount of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), only released when women are pregnant to curb the maternal immune system and stop the menstrual cycle, is high enough to be detected.

Indeed, when the fertilized egg implants itself in the uterine wall the body of the woman assumes it as foreign tissue, since 50 percent of the genetic information contained in their cells come from man, and to avoid the possible rejection cells start to produce the hormone.
