Cuban Medical Brigade Will Soon depart to Mozambique

Havana, Mar 28 (Prensa Latina) A Cuban medical brigade will depart in the next hours to Mozambique to support health care in the territories affected by cyclone Idai, according to a report on national television today.

There are 40 professionals, among whom are surgeons, anesthesiologists, orthopedists, epidemiologists, general practitioners, nurses and specialists in electromedicine, who will work in the southern area of the African country supported by a field hospital that has a surgical unit .

The members of the brigade have more than 10 years of work experience and 60 percent already have experience in missions outside the island, said a source from the Cuban Ministry of Public Health.

In the act of flagging, the Cuban Minister of the sector, José Ángel Portal, told the internationalist doctors the confidence of the authorities of the country in that they will carry out professional work in Mozambique.

Finally, he asked them to take care of themselves as a big family because of the complex circumstances that could be found in the African nation.

Last week, Hurricane Idai caused 400 deaths, 110 thousand homeless people and numerous material damages in various regions.
