Havana, May 9 (Prensa Latina) The agenda of the 12th Cuban Event against Homophobia and Transphobia continues on Thursday, according to Raiza Arango, a communication expert with the National Sex Education Center (CENESEX).
In statements to Prensa Latina, Arango explained that the event, which is taking place in Camagüey province this year, aims to contribute to the development of comprehensive education on sexuality and the recognition of the sexual rights of all people without distinctions.
'Next Saturday at 7:00 pm (local time), the Festival of Diversity will take place for everyone at the Jose Antonio Echeverria Workers' Club,' she pointed out.
The expert highlighted the relevance of the photo exhibition 'Cuba in 82', which was inaugurated on Wednesday and deals about Article 82 of the new Constitution.
The Constitution does not define who the subjects who make up marriage are, and in this new article, it considers it a social and juridical institution, and one of the forms of organization of families, referring to the law for its further development.
The reformulation of Article 68 that is currently contained in Article 82 must be interpreted as an achievement in our social and political context, Arango noted.
She added that the event is also aimed at seeking respect and acceptance for those who suffer from HIV, making emphasis on vulnerable groups.
All the rights for all people is the motto of the event, which this year aligns its actions with the Rewrite Happiness Campaign, developed by CENESEX, which is attached to the Ministry of Public Health.
The initiative has been held since 2008 in Cuba to contribute to the education of the entire society, making emphasis on the family and youths, to respect free and responsible sexual orientation and gender identity as an exercise of equality and social justice.
The International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia is marked on May 17 to commemorate the elimination of homosexuality from the list of mental diseases by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1990.
