temperaturaHavana, Jul 31 (Prensa Latina) Cuba reported until July 29 a total of 10 maximum temperature records for the seventh month of the year, according to data released today by a source from the Cuban Meteorology Institute.
According to statement by Dr. Miriam Teresita Llanes, of the Forecast Center of the Meteorology Institute, to Granma newspaper, most of new firsts occurred during the last ten days of the month, and only one took place in the first week.

These occurred in Cienfuegos, with 37.0 degrees Celsius; Holguin, 37.5; Indio Hatuey, Matanzas, 37.5; Colon, 36.2; Guaro, Holguin, 36.6; Jucaro, Ciego de Avila, 37.0; Jovellanos, 36.4; Punta del Este, Isle of Youth, 34.5; La Jiquima, Holguin, 37.1 and Contramaestre, Santiago de Cuba, 38.2.

Meteorologist Llanes stressed that on Wednesday, July 29, a recently automatic station opened in Bayamo, in the eastern province of Granma, measured a surprising maximum of 39.3 degrees Celsius.

However, as this is not part of the network of conventional weather stations, such report is not considered an absolute national heat record (the current is 38.8, set in Jucarito, Granma, on April 17, 1999) but it will be studied by the researchers of the Climate Center of the Meteorology Institute.

According to what was suggested by those models, August will also be very warm, with maximum and minimum temperatures above normal across the country.
