Cuba Gives Final Touches to Begin School Year

cuba educacionaula1Havana, Aug 26 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Ministry of Education announced today the arrangements with a view to the 2015-2016 academic course, for which the State has provided about 17.5 million USD.
According to Education Minister, Ana Elsa Velazquez, more than 1,792,6000 students are expected to go to school, when the school year begins on September 1.

Raising quality of the educational process remains being an essential objective, which not only refers to the acquisition of knowledge and development of activities, but also the formation and development of values, Velazquez said.

These should be reflected in the student's appropriate behavior in and out of the educational institutions, she added.

The conditions created so far are higher than in the previous year, in terms of resources and teaching coverage, the minister said.

Velazquez reported that everything was revised in August, to ensure the distribution of school materials, a rather complicated process that reaches more than 10,350 educational institutions of the country.

As part of the attention to the demographic policy, spaces in kindergartens were recovered, with more than 2,700 new centers and in semiboarding schools, with 6,494.

He also stressed that the indications of health and hygiene measures to comply with in each center to prevent the spread of disease, through good hygiene, preservation, cooking and handling of food, are maintained.
