Cuban Vice President Attends China''s Victory Day Parade

miguel diazcanelBeijing, Sep 3 (Prensa Latina) Cuban First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel, attended here today the military parade on occasion of China''s Victory Day at the Tiananmen Square, in central Beijing.
The Cuban first vice president arrived in this capital early Wednesday, September 2, to participate in the military parade commemorating the 70th anniversary of Victory of Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the end of the World War II.

Diaz-Canel attended at noon a reception -along with about thirty heads of State, foreign government representatives and senior officials from international organizations- and is attending a Cultural Gala in the evening, both activities at the capital's Great People's Palace.

Cuba's Revolutionary Armed Forces were among the 50 blocks that marched in the military parade.

In his opening words of the ceremony, President, Xi Jinping, said those acts are in memory of a victory for justice, a victory of the people, and a glory to the world.

He stressed that these evocations are intended to remember the history of the War of Resistance and on this basis attract wisdom to strengthen on the way to seek peace.

Some 12,000 soldiers and veterans of the World War II and their families gathered around the Tiananmen Square in Beijing on Thursday morning.

This is the first time that a military parade of this kind is carried out here with the attendance of about 30 heads of State and leaders of government, and the participation of several foreign troops.
