Havana, Sep 4 (Prensa Latina) The 70th anniversary of the admission of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, at the University of Havana will be held today throughout the country, mainly by higher level students.
Jennifer Bello, president of the Cuban Federation of University Students (FEU), stated that the students will celebrate the date in every higher education institution, faculty and subsidiary of the country that, to their eyes, becomes the revolutionary leader an eternal classmate.
According to Bello, the University of Havana (UH) -the oldest higher education center in Cuba- will be the largest venue of the celebration.
Among the activities on occasion of the anniversary are the so-called Dialogue of Generations, photo exhibitions, and a morning walk from Fragua Martiana (Museum of Marti's forge) to the stairs of the University of Havana.
The FEU president -cited by the National News Agency - stated that after September 4, the work in Cuban universities until November 17, International Students' Day, when 10 years of the memorable speech by the revolutionary leader at the Main Lecture hall of the Havana University will be marked, will continue encouraging them.
During the daily radio and TV Round Table program on Thursday, journalist and researcher Mariuska Blanco explained that Fidel Castro was characterized at the University of Havana for his simplicity, naturalness, sensitivity, solidarity, and above all for feeling the history of Cuba, as well as being a dreamer.
After 1959, Fidel Castro revolutionized the university and reinforced the humanist sense of that campus for what he is and will be an eternal university student, she said.
