festival habanarte 2015Havana, Sep 4 (Prensa Latina) The 2nd Habanarte Festival, which brings together the most diverse artistic expressions in a same program, was opened here with a concert in which bands such as Dimension Latina, Isaac Delgado y Adalberto Alvarez, participated.

Venezuelan band Dimension Latina, considered one of the most important musical combos of its country and the continent, played several songs of the traditional Cuban repertoire, but also many of its classics, such as "Zunzun," "Llorarás" and "Frutas del caney."

"Thanks to Cuba for giving us the opportunity to express ourselves through music," said the members of the Venezuelan band in a moment of the concert that took place yesterday at the Teatro Nacional de CubaâÖs Avellaneda hall in this capital, and lasted about two hours.

Vladimir Rosales and Rodrigo Mendoza, members of the salsa band founded in the city of Vargas in 1972, willingly confessed that Cuban music is for Dimension Latina the genesis of salsa and son, and it has always been present in all the bandâÖs songs.

Isaac Delgado, widely known as "El Chevere de la Salsa," gave those attending the concert several of his most famous songs, including "Andar La Habana," "Necesito una amiga" and "¿Qué pasa loco?."

It is a pleasure for me that dance music is in the vanguard of an event as Habanarte, just before an occasional performance of his orchestra with Dimension Latina, said Delgado.

Adalberto Alvarez, known as the "Caballero de la Son", was responsible for the spectacular close of the emotional event, and expressed that to be on stage with Dimension Latina was a dream come true.

Dimension Latina became the standard bearer of salsa movement in mid-1970s, when with members such as Oscar D' Leon and Andy Montanez were among the few bands capable of introducing competition at the New York salsa boom of that time.

The second edition of Habanarte will run in the Cuban capital until September 13, as an integrating force of music, visual arts, film and other artistic aspects.
