Havana, Sep 16 (Prensa Latina) Namibian president, Hage Gottfrie Geingob, who is in an official visit to Cuba, toured today the State Drug Control Center along with representatives of Carlos J. Finlay Institute.
According to the scheduled for the Namibian President stay here, this is the penultimate day of his visit to Havana.
Gottfrie Geingob was received Tuesday by Cuban President Raul Castro, who held official talks, during which the two leaders realized the excellent state of bilateral relations and reiterated their willingness to strengthen them, in line with the historical ties between both nations.
They also discussed other issues of common interest of the international and regional agenda, as it was reported.
Shortly before his meeting with Raul Castro, Gottfried Geingob laid a wreath at the monument to Cuba's National Hero, José Martí, and toured the Memorial dedicated to the hero, along with the government delegation accompanying him.
Cuba and Namibia established diplomatic relations on March 21, 1990. The African nation supports the struggle of the Cuban people to put end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.
Both countries maintain important links in the political arena and collaboration in economy, trade, education, health, culture, sport and construction.
At present 32 scholarships from that African nation are studying in Cuba, out of them four by the Ministry of Public Health and 28 by the Higher Education.
Namibia is located in the Southern African region. It limits the north with Angola, northeast Zambia, East with Botswana, south and southeast with South Africa and west with the Atlantic Ocean.
