Cuba to Hosts Intl Orthopedics Congress

Havana, Sep 17 (Prensa Latina) Experts from four continents will meet in the city of Camaguey on September 21-26 in the framework of the International Congress on Orthopedics and Traumatology.
According to its president, Doctor Rodrigo Álvarez Cambras, the event will bring together about 200 experts of the island, and scientists from Spain, Mexico, Japan, Argentina, Angola, Italy, Panama, France, China and South Korea.
Among the issues the meeting will discuss are breech deformities, the present situation in knee and shoulder arthroscopy, minimally invasive surgery in orthopedics, and trauma to the spine.
Injuries of high performance athletes, and orthopedics' advances in external fixation, the latter, a specialty for which it is internationally recognized in Cuba, will also stage the debates at the Santa Cecilia Conference Center.
Cambras stressed that during the pre-congress courses, diseases of the lumbosacral spine, and child hip, will be the focus of talks; the event will be conducive to hold the Sixth Cuba-Mexico Binational Meeting, and the Fourth Cuba-Argentina Symposium.
The event is sponsored by the Ministry of Public Health of the island, the International Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology, the Mexican Federation of those specialties, and the Pan-American Health Organization, among others.
