Paris, Nov 4 (Prensa Latina) After complying with the Millennium Development Goals in education, Cuba is focused today on the goals ahead to 2030.
We are included from a more comfortable position to concrete the post-2015 goals, Higher Education Minister Rodolfo Alarcon told Prensa Latina. He leads the Cuban delegation to the 38th UNESCO's General Conference.
I think that all conditions are created so we fulfill and over-fulfill as expected, as of the priority that sector have for the Cuban Revolution, government and people, he said.
In such paragraph, the post-2015 agenda includes among its objectives to provide an equitable and inclusive quality education and learning opportunities for all.
Alarcon said the island joins to all UNESCO's work in favor of education, science and culture. We believe that there is a proper projection and we identify with it.
Maybe, I could stay dissatisfied that the goals set are still pale compared to the tremendous needs this unequal world has, in which education and culture, only in terms of speech, are for everyone, he said.
Actually, there is much to do in that direction. The fact that objectives are established, also the post 2015 agenda, all that is favorable, he noted.
The minister stressed that the Caribbean nation has been recognized by UNESCO for the progress, especially in the education sector, because "we comply with the millennium goals, I would say that comfortably compared to other countries."
The Cuban Ministry of Higher Education and the French Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research, signed an action plan on Friday, Oct. 30.
The General Conference of the UN Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO) is running until Nov. 18, to determine the programs and activities the Organization will carry out during the coming two years.
