World Federation of Democratic Youth Holds Closed Session in Cuba

delegados asamblea fmjdHavana, Nov 11 (Prensa Latina) The 19th General Assembly of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) carries out today behind closed doors in its third working day.
According to the scheduled program, today's agenda will debate the internal affairs of the organization, in addition to elect new leaders for the different structures that compose it.

This meeting began on Nov. 9, in the attendance of about 130 representatives of more than 60 groups, which highlighted the example of resistance of the Cuban people, and the role of the new generations in the defense of the Revolution.

Parallel to the Assembly was the International Committee of the Cuban Young Communist League (UJC), a space that was used to reveal details of the Cuban present situation, as well as the results of the 10th Congress of the youth organization.

The president of the General Union of Palestinian Students in Cuba, Mohamed Abu Srour, stated at the Havana's Conference Center,

the Caribbean country is a reference in the struggles of the peoples of the world for their sovereignty.

The also representative of the Union of Democratic Youth, attached to the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, thanked the permanent support received from the people and government of the Caribbean island to the right of his compatriots to an independent State in peace.

The WFDY held yesterday the 70th anniversary of its foundation with a cultural gala, in which a recognition was delivered to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, due to his support for the work of the Federation and for the holding of the World Festival of Youth and Students.

Founded in 1945 and recognized by the United Nations, the WFDY brings together a large number of movements of the planet, aimed at promoting peace and unity, and defend the rights of young people.
