Havana, Dec 8 (Prensa Latina) Experts from more than 20 countries attend today the 8th International Meeting of Researchers and Scholars of Information and Communication, ICOM 2015, a space where they will critically analyze the communication agendas of the region.
Under the central subject "Information and Communication from the South: Political Economics, Culture and Creative Thinking", the event includes the presentation of around 400 papers by authors from Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa as well as from several universities of the United States.

Along with with this edition of ICOM, which will be held in Havana's Convention Center until Friday, is taking place the 9th International Congress of the Latin Union for Political Economics of Information, Communication and Culture (ULEPICC).

The agenda of both events includes debates on issues related to media as thinking managers, law and citizen access to information and regulation and self-regulation of media content.

The opening day will include a lecture by renowned Belgian sociologist and scholar of communication, Armand Mattelart.

Other prominent researchers invited to the meeting are Graham Murdock, from the United Kingdom and Spanish Ramon Zallo, who will give master conferences as well as Professors Armando Malhiero, from Portugal, César Bolaño, from Brazil, and Enrique Sanchez from Mexico.
