Segundo Frente (Second Front) Hotel was awarded yesterday with the Excelencias Verdes(Green Excellences) Award 2018. The news transcended at the Awards Gala held in Madrid during the XXXIX International Tourism Fair of Spain (Fitur, in Spanish) 2019, that was held from January 23th to 27th.

The Excelencias Awards have become a benchmark of quality in the spheres of Ibero-American tourism, culture, society and gastronomy. They were created 14 years ago by the Excelencias Group to promote the excellence in the related spheres. This time, they included as a novelty: the recognition of touristic projects or outstanding enterprises in the protection and conservation of the environment, creating the category Green and Blue Award.

The information had a noticeable welcome in Cuba, mainly by professionals related to tourism industry of the southeastern province. Regarding to this Sierra Maestra obtained priming statements.

Maids Arrué Hernández, the Commercial Specialist of the Tourism Ministry Delegation in Santiago de Cuba, expressed: "It´s a deserved award not only for the constructive beauty of a facility that constitutes a jewel of our destiny, but also for the respect to the natural environment, which was maintained during the process of design of the hotel and execution of it; this is the most distinguished aspect. This recognition encourages our sector to keep the protection of the environment."

Taking care of Mother Nature while we benefit ourselves from her goodness should be a daily do of every human being. The Segundo Frente Hotel, located in the area of Sierra de Cristal and strictly follower of this precept, works today at the maximum of its capacity.

The construction of the 50 bungalows and other facilities, in an area of about four and a half hectares, was materialized in full harmony with the landscape, social and historical lush values of the environment.

Regarding this, the architect of the Project Company #15, Eliovis Gámez Leyva, general projector of the installation, declared that "during its execution almost no ground movement was made because the astonishing landscapes that in a natural way offer the area, were used at maximum."

The Segundo Frente Hotel, finished mid-2018, not only assures the full enjoyment of tropical attractions, but encourages clients to practice hiking. It also promotes, through La Casa del Campesino (The House of the Country Man), a coherent interaction between the guests and an inherent culture in the people that inhabit the Cuban countryside. Other enjoyment options in the exterior spaces includes wooded bridges, and, in some trees, balconies with diverse dimensions were inserted (with extreme caution), subtle suggestion to a direct contact with the flora and fauna of the place.
