Reopen Oldest Museum in Cuba

museo bacardi reaperturaWith the reopening Tuesday night of the iconic Museum Emilio Bacardi Moreau, this city welcomed the 147 anniversary of having first sung the national anthem and in this way closed the Day of Cuban Culture.
Lázaro Expósito Canto, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and Reinaldo Garcia Zapata, president of the Provincial Assembly of People's Power (Government) attended the ceremony.
Also present were executives of Culture, artists of the city, local participants National Council of the Attorney General's Office and the public in general.
The "Bacardi" received an almost complete renovation in art galleries, religious ethnography, and history, including air conditioning of the first two, and in the second there are three new areas: the Spanish-Cuban-American War; area of the colony, and the area of the revolution in power.
Some 800. 000 CUC (convertible pesos) were employed in jobs that have left like new the "Bacardi", an institution which reopened tonight, as one of the main activities of the closure of the Day for the Day of Cuban Culture .
It was also opened at the Museum the Documentation Centre, which holds more than 1500 photos, stationery and documents, including from the Bacardi family, which are now available to visitors, students and researchers, three days a week: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday).
The permanent exhibition "Emilio Bacardi Moreau" compose about 1.500 exponents on display, although in general the institution has more than 16.000.
Much of these exponents, including all the paintings and sculptures that are in the room of this specialty, were restored by Santiago and the Office of the Curator of the City of Havana, Eusebio Leal led by specialists.
The leaders of the Party and government, and the rest of the guests received a detailed explanation of each room and several major exponents.
