Camaguey, Cuba, Apr 24 (Prensa Latina) An investment close to the 40 million dollars will allow the Cuban port of Nuevitas, Camaguey, Cuba, distant 70 kilometers from the provincial capital with the name of Camaguey, to become one of the ports with a biggest operational capacity in the island. Actions enable to triple the current capacity of storage of 71,000 tons, important variant to the area of development of the ports of Mariel, Santiago de Cuba and Cienfuegos, among the most important on the island.
'With the investment by the port maritime business group Empresarial Marítimo Portuario, the four Cuban ports with Asian technology, will be rehabilitated to receive ships of more than 186 meters', said the head of operations, Nelson Perdigon.
Space is there for the entrance of cruises, one of the activities taking relevance in Cuba, and Nuevitas is located close to Santa Lucia, main tourist destination of the region.
Roberto Curbelo, director of the port, said Nuevitas assumes important volumes of cargo and fertilizers, therefore repaired the points of access to the coastal city.
In addition to the Puerto Angola project in Nuevitas, which currently handles about 250 thousand tons per year, hotel construction plans in the northern keys of Camaguey, one of the most promising provinces for Cuba's economy, are added.
