Quito, Apr 24 (Prensa Latina) Representatives of 21 countries have began today the 20th Plenary Assembly of the Conference of Ministers of Justice of the Ibero-American Countries (COMIJIB) to discuss issues of interest in judicial and penitentiary matters. Today's meeting includes electing the president of the plenary session and starting the first debates.
An exchange on the 2017-2019 Strategy and the approval of the final declaration of the 20th Plenary Assembly is scheduled for tomorrow.
Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, are the countries comprising the COMIJIB.
The aim of this institution, which was institutionalized in 1992, is to promote the establishment of applicable public policies by the States member and regional and sub-regional alliances as a tool for building a more cohesive legal space.
About the event and the wide participation of delegates, Ledy Zuñiga, head of Justice and Human Rights, told the Andes News Agency: 'It is no coincidence. No plenary session in any other country has achieved the participation of many ministers.'
