Managua, Nov 13 (Prensa Latina) Nicaragua reiterated today that from April to July this year it was submitted to an attempt of coup d''état by political groups disguised as non-government organizations associated to organized crime and financed from abroad. This intended coup d'état threatened peace, security, stability and the economy of the people of Nicaragua, it stresses.
It equally points that terrorist actions and crimes committed left as result 198 persons dead, of which 22 were policemen, 1240 persons wounded, of these 401 were officers of that institution, wounded by firearms.
The coupists also damaged the country's infrastructure, with 252 vandalized and affected buildings, 209 kilometers of streets and roads, 278 heavy machinery devastated and burned and 389 vehicles in ruins.
Authorities also confirm that damages to the economy are estimated in 231 million dollars in losses of the tourism sector and 525 million dollars in transport.
The direct impact on the population was the loss of 119 thousand 567 workplaces and seven billion xcordobas (over 261 million dollars) in the reduction of the General Budget of the Republic.
The Foreign Ministry also says that after these events, the pertinent institutions of the State, in compliance with the law, have worked in the investigation and process of the authors and participants, counting until November 5, 273 persons arrested for these crimes.
'The Government of Reconcilliation and National Unity will keep working for reconstruction of the country, peace, security ansd reconcilliation of the people of Nicaragua', it emphasizes.
On another hand, the Foreign Ministry says the Government, committed always with the reconcilliation ansd peace in the country, carries out an extensive national consultation to enrich and submit to the National Assembly a proposal of State policy that establishes a national culture of reconciliation and peace.
That, it explains, in order to promote, from the school, the family and the community, values ansd practices of respect, solidarity, dialogue, rapprochement and harmonious coexistence in all Nicaragua.
