The echoes of the 500th anniversary of the founding of the town of Santiago de Cuba even as they continue to resonate the awards to personalities who, in this case, have done much for our country.
So much so, that three prominent Puerto Ricans, the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, were worthy of the award that honors the and past birthday of the villa.
Milagros Rivera, head of the Juan Rius Rivera Brigade; Rafael Cancel Miranda, independence fighter Oscar López Rivera, political prisoner imprisoned for more than thirty years in the United States for its anti-colonialist position, were deserving of the distinction.
The head of the Juan Rius Rivera Brigade said he felt a "very deep emotion and an honor to be worthy of this distinction which commits us to continue fighting in solidarity with the revolution."
While Clarissa Lopez, daughter of political prisoner expressed his satisfaction with the tribute and hope that his father returns to the country, especially for international support and solidarity of which also deserved the five Cuban heroes.
With these awards, the Municipal Assembly of People's Power in Santiago de Cuba, reciprocal actions of these people who defend Cuba in the world.
