Caracas, Jul 31 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Delcy Rodriguez, ratified at UN''s the commitment to her country with the development of Caribbean states, reported the Foreign Ministry here today.
According to the website of that government entity, Rodriguez said during a meeting of the Security Council of the UN held in New York that Venezuela has interest in promoting international cooperation initiatives in the area for the sustainable development and welfare of peoples.
The minister said that the Caribbean island states are among the most affected by the policies of the capitalist model and transnational crime.
Rodriguez insisted that the international community should create spaces that allow these countries to defend their role in building a pluralistic world.
She also praised the efforts made by Venezuela in the area, such as Petrocaribe energy cooperation mechanism.
According to the Foreign Minister, Petrocaribe goes beyond energy security and constitutes a bloc for regional integration based on the right of member countries to development.
Although they are small states, contribute significantly to the maintenance of international peace and security, she added.
