United Nations, Sep 28 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro praised in his speech at the UN headquarters in New York, the fight carried out by his country against drug trafficking.
According to the president, that role played by Venezuela was recognized by the United Nations years ago, and actions continue today with the same effort for keeping the county a territory free of drug production
Venezuela carries out a legal daily battle against drug trafficking, which wants to impose politically and culturally worldwide said Maduro.
According to the head of State, the Venezuelan Control for Air Space Defense Law, made possible during the two first years of its establishment to stop more than 100 operations linked to drug trafficking.
Maduro also referred to the arrest of a hundred of capos from other nations who tried to develop operations in the Venezuelan territory, as well as their later deportation to Colombia and the United States.
"Venezuela does not live and will never live from drug sales. We live of our work," Maduro told reporters at the UN.
He also insisted on the importance of creating a new model to fight drug trafficking with the support of regional integration mechanisms.
