London, Sep 28 (Prensa Latina) The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is ready for the Trident Juncture 15 maneuvers, involving 36,000 military and with main offices in Portugal, Spain and Italy, today reported its central command.
In the middle of calls from Russia to avoid direct deployment of NATO forces near its borders, the block intends to exercise its rapid reaction forces and its new spearhead, which emerged in the conflict in Ukraine.
Several countries in Eastern Europe integrated into the alliance as Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia speak about a hypothetical Russian threat and thus justify the reinforcement of the structures of the North Atlantic pact in those nations.
The spearhead of NATO emerged after the position assumed by Moscow to oppose the coup in Ukraine in February 2014, and to support Crimea's sovereignty and fight the insurgent population in the southeast.
In war games, which will run until mid-October with the participation of over 30 countries, simultaneous actions of the Air Force, Navy, Army and special forces are included.
It also foresees two stages. The first will be of coordination between the bigger states and the second the active phase on the ground.
Trident Juncture 15, considered the largest NATO exercise in decades, will also be developed in the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean sea, Canada, Norway, the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium.
