Caracas, Oct 2 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan and Cuban activists strengthen ties between the two countries today, as a result of the 7th National Meeting of the Movement of Friendship and Mutual Solidarity, which started on Thursday in the state of Vargas.
Members of the group demanded yesterday the end of US unilateral measures affecting the economy and the people in the Caribbean island.
Likewise, they discussed about the role of youth in the cooperation activities and the new stage of relations between Washington and Havana, resumed since last December 17.
At the beginning of the meeting, the coordinator of the movement, Yhonny García insisted that Venezuela will support Cuba permanently in its claim for the ending of the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States for over 50 years.
García reiterated that the return to the island of the territory illegally occupied by the northern nation in Guantanamo is also necessary for the normalization of relations between the two countries...
He also thanked the involvement of Cuba in social programs aimed at improving the quality of life of the Venezuelan people, especially in areas such as health, education, sports and cultural education.
For its part, the coordinator for Latin America of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, Alexi Guerra, stressed that his country also reciprocates all Venezuelan solidarity.
According to the governor of Vargas, Jorge García, his fellow citizens keep a great affection for Cubans, its doctors, teachers, and especially, for the historic leader of the Revolution of the island, Fidel Castro.
In the poorest neighborhoods, in places of difficult access, in the mountains, in the plains, we will always find Cuban collaborators giving their best, he told Prensa Latina.
This is the first test of the vast relations of solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, said García.
