Havana, Feb 18 (Prensa Latina) Casa de las Americas, the emblematic institution of the region''s literary endeavour, reaffirmed Monday the Yes for Cuba''s new Constitution, scheduled to be voted next Sunday.

The entity in a statement reiterated its unconditional support on behalf of the intelligentsia for the law of laws, discussed by millions of people in broad popular debate.

According to the text, to vote is to defend the political legacy of Fidel Castro, who disqualified any imposition of theoretical schemes and made a nation's project resistant for six decades.

It is also to give priority to the great achievements and values implemented since the 1960s in the areas of culture, health, human solidarity (...) and the inexhaustible search for equity in our society.

It also called for a yes vote to precisely consolidate the rights achieved and formalize the overcoming of any breach of citizen sovereignty and the safe overcoming of discriminatory barriers.

Because it is the only way to ensure, on February 24, 2019, that the Cuban people hold in their hands the possibility of deciding their destiny, it stressed.
