"Hermanadas por la historia"(Twinned by history) is the title of a song that creators of the neighboring city of Bayamo have been devoted to half a millennium of the foundation of Santiago villa.
Andrés Araujo , from Bayamo is the author of the lyrics and theme music devoted to Santiago de Cuba, which his countrymen Ary Rodriguez and Arturo Leyva Heredia put the voice and arrangements, respectively.
"'Twinned ...' is a guaracha with Santiago essence and we feel very proud to dedicate a heroic city as the cradle of the revolution," said Araujo.
For many years, especially in the beginning of the Tele Rebelde channel in the city of Santiago, Araujo made music for numerous spaces dramatized, in the late 60s and 70s, in a timely manner with known creators of Oriental TV Amado Cabezas and Benigno Cudeiro.
"But above all, because I am in Santiago part and this is a momentous time for two cities as Bayamo and Santiago de Cuba that house much of the birth and further development of the history of Cuba," Andres said in arguing creation the song that would be delivered to the authorities of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the Government (People's Power) in what was the seventh town founded in 1515 by the Spanish colonialists in the Cuban archipelago.
The musical author added other arguments that gave foot to compose the song:
"As soon as he's Cry Demajagua here in the nineteenth century Santiago, Antonio Maceo, he joined the struggle for independence; when the Mambi insurrection, Baire was Bayamo; Sindo Garay did the Santiago Bayamesa and rest in Bayamo; Céspedes was born here and died and lies in Santiago de Cuba; when the July 26, the two barracks were attacked there and here; the Cauto river is born in Santiago de Cuba through Granma province and empties its waters into the sea in the Gulf of Guacanayabo ... "
Araujo is director in Bayamo, the musical comedy group Congratulations Tropical Show, works at the Casa de la Trova and professional troubadour, and says he owes much to his wife Magali Castillo Fonseca in the musical creation.
"Twinned by history" he was recorded by Ary Rodriguez, one of the best voices of Bayamo, with the musical support of the Orchestra Tempest America, a kind of jazz band directed by the teacher, Santiago Carlos Puig Premion.
The theme creator insisted moving some of the lyrics:
Rebel hospital yesterday today / what says the national and foreign / natural and says the stranger / say I assure you all / Son of the sun, the son of Fire Caribbean and current / son fugitive black hitching / Son adage drum thunder and / born together in the history and together we / and evoke the Star Santiago / enlightens us all alike / View Santiago and Bayamo twinned by history / is tying two hurricanes with an edge of glory ...
