The use of new information technologies and their approach to the communities of the Turquino Plan (PT) today define the work of television rooms in the province of Santiago de Cuba, 15 years after created by the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro.
Arising as a program of the Revolution, the 299 such facilities in the territory offer collective utility in locations difficult to access in order to achieve a comprehensive general culture and improve the quality of life and social coexistence.
Juan Torres, director of television rooms in the province, reported that they have premises with digital equipment and USB ports, which allows a greater reproduction of audiovisual materials, always aimed at aesthetic improvement of the attendees.
Most of them work with photovoltaic power, generators and mini-hydroelectric plants in intricate or non-electrified places, taking into account that they are the main cultural centers and exchange spaces of the inhabitants.
Also, teachers, doctors and cultural promoters, supported by television programs and teaching materials, contribute to improving the quality of life and recreation, and to reduce alcoholism, smoking and the transmission of sexual diseases.
Torres mentioned satellite antennas in areas of silence such as El Escandel and Ramón de las Yaguas, in the municipality of Cabecera, to capture the signal from radio stations and TV channels with RadioCuba receivers and hybrid television sets, systems that this year Switch to flat-screen.
Although the population has similar equipment, these rooms keep people updated, bring new things, are vital for the quality of their varied daily programming and free, according to the needs and expectations of the neighbors, said people from the Third Front.

Torres reaffirmed the service as small units of rehabilitation that provide in those facilities and that are attended by auxiliaries prepared and controlled by the rehabilitators of polyclinics.
Its function is to provide community continuity to the treatments indicated by doctors and physiatrists.
