Emilio Bacardi Museum exposes objects related to the Father of the Homeland Carlos Manuel de Céspedes in its hall of History, inserted in the celebration for the Anniversary 150 of the beginning of the pro-independence heroic deeds in the greatest of the Antilles, in October 10th of 1868.
In visit to this National Monument facility located in the historical center of Santiago de Cuba, the specialist Adís Serrano Chaveco, showed to us a fragment tree of the Demajagua, under which Céspedes gave the freedom to his slaves, and also the replica of the first Cuban flag raised by him in his plant and made by Candelaria Acosta.
Similarly, she exposed us a bill signed by the Cuban patriot, as President of the Republic in Arms, the printing office where he used to guide the edition of the
Free Cuban newspaper, as well as the stone and the funerary urn of wood and lead where they were placed his remains, before being moved to the Santa Ifigenia Patrimonial Cemetery of Santiago de Cuba.
Cupey leaves with which the brave lawyer taught the farmers to read, a leather cube, the revolver case, a pen and a porcelain dish are others valuable objects of the Father of the Homeland that the Emilio Bacardi Museum preserves.
Precisely, thanks to the incessant search of Emilio Bacardí the first Creole mayor of Santiago de Cuba, this museum that has his name, shows to the present and future generations of Cubans this exposition of exceptional value, that pays tribute of remembrance and respect, to the patrician from Bayamo that liberated his servitude, to begin the fight for the emancipation of the Homeland.
