The Development of English Language Teaching Conference for teachers concluded on Friday at the University of Oriente in Santiago de Cuba.
The initiative sought to develop skills and abilities for better professional performance in English language instruction, especially in higher education institutions.
According to the organizers, the event consisted of two workshops, the first one 'Training trainers: how to prepare new generations of teachers,' dedicated to experienced teachers with the aim of perfecting receptive, productive and lexical teaching skills.
The second 'Classrooms in Action' was aimed at recent graduates, also with the purpose of working on receptive and productive skills, grammar and vocabulary, as well as task design and lesson planning.
Both activities were led by St. Giles International Brighton teacher Mike Williams and follow the meetings held last school year.
The actions were organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, the Faculty of Foreign Languages of the University and the British Council Cuba, an institution with two decades of academic support in Cuba.
