Youngsters of Yesterday and Today, committed With El Moncada

The presence in Santiago de Cuba of those young-and not so young that on July 26, 1953 decided to rebel to free Cuba, make us relive moments of glory, but also stirs our souls by this attempt that stopped exist.
As more than six decades, they are still dying the Apostle, they hope that new generations will also know how to wield their weapons –those of our time to keep alive the legacy that cost so much blood.

This fighter, author of the Hymn of July 26, no longer has the same physical preparation of yesteryear, but is slowly remembering the tireless hours of preparation for combat action led by Fidel Castro.

"Nothing more than set foot in Santiago I feel excited. So many memories, some good, some very painful!
The determination to take up arms, did resign themselves those pleasures of life, and especially youth, to devote himself to the libertarian cause with the greatest indifference and uprooting by the material issues.
They were not adventurers were ready to end the dictatorship that repressed the people, and for that had the force of the righteous ideals and momentum of youth repressed.
With tears in his eyes, and chest with pride, remember the fallen every year on the morning of the Santa Ana, those who make clear the ideology of the Master, driven by the principles of a faithful and determined people to fight for independence.
The July 26, 1953, was much more than a date. That day more than a hundred young people organized stormed the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes barracks, the Saturnino Lora hospital and courthouse.
Although the event was a military defeat, he served as the driving force of future actions that led to the triumph of the Revolution, the First of January 1959.
A 62 years after those events, the enduring memory of his protagonists in the new generations, those who do not forget that years later, his sacrifice restored their liberated homeland.
Raúl Fornés Valenciano, mayor of Santiago villa feels heir to the story with so many young people of this land, and considers the Moncada today, which live in every new work that is delivered to the enjoyment of the people.
"It is a strong commitment to the city, its history and the Revolution. Moncada is the biggest challenge for the santiagueros to continue fighting for a more beautiful city every day, organized, serving five centuries but is cheerful and full of life. "
He received the news that Santiago de Cuba would host the main event for the 62 years of the Moncada, in the words dedicated to the people by Cuban President Raul Castro in the Céspedes Park.
"It was important for Santiago, where young people show to be in the front row, more than six decades later, because we continue the struggle of Moncada and not let die the legacy of José Martí's time."
"We have taken the city made for them, and are on us to continue the work and improve every day."
Preserve the gains and enjoy every July 26th with joy and optimism, it is the largest commitment they have with the heroes of yesterday, today's youth.
