anec santiago de cubaThe meetings in the 377 unions of the Cuban National Association of Economists and Accountants (ANEC, in Spanish) in Santiago province are almost over. Contributions to the Cuban economic model update have been an accurate topic in the debates.

Prior to the VII summit of the organization, planned for June 2019, this is an important step towards the analysis of its guiding documents and the debate on how the enterprises’ economy can be improved; said PhD Víctor Luis López Lescay, president of the ANEC in the province.Mr.López also pointed out the presentation of research that solved issues from the problem bank of some entities.

These contributions will be presented in a scientific conference the day before the provincial assembly on February 21th, with proposals for both the company systems and the update process, he added.

The main statements were directed to the cost and there was a strong support for this indicator to be the base of the whole economic and financial analysis. In the same way, topics such as financial efficiency and the use of money in profitable economic activities were dealt.

Another matter was the local development and the need of a labor force working towards the enterprises’ needs and the social responsibility that those enterprises have in this matter.

Between November and December, the municipal assemblies will take place. Around those days, on December 26th, the Cuban Economist and Account’s day celebration will be taking place.

About the organization in the province, Mr. López said that it has 5 134 members who are well prepared. He also added that the purpose of the actual process is growing, incorporating those that in their performance have a close relation with economic matters; not being economist though.

The opportunities open to train students of this field is other strength of the ANEC. This opportunities aim at the inclusion of the students into all the economic affairs carried out by the organization, once they graduate.
