It was a morning about memories of the life and contributions of many people, in crucial times where the Cuban youth embraced with honor the heavy tasks entrusted by Fidel Castro. Fidel, from the beginning, always fully trust in that generation that didn’t let him down.

Stories of a stage, already past, came back to the memory of its protagonists. A minute’s silence was observed in memory of the deceased companions.

On January 28th, 1960, the creation of The Rebel Youth Association was announced by Che Guevara in a public statement. The Association was born integrated by member of the Rebel Army, people that didn’t go to school and unemployed citizens between 13 and 18 years old. In the Association’s record there are beautiful and heroic examples of economic, politic and military accomplished tasks. At the beginning, it was of a military nature at some extend and it was subordinated to The Instruction Department of the Armed Forces Ministry led by Che Guevara.

From October 21th, 1960 on, the organization included young people between 14 and 25 years old from all sector of the society, so increasing its members. The members joined the organization under the slogan “ Estudio; Trabajo; Fusil” (Study; Work and Rifle). When the Organization changed its name to the actual one, members stared being selected by their qualities and it started working as the youth organization of the Cuban Communist Party.
