Car repair shops haven been activated in Santiago de Cuba because of the new laws on transportation

Over a dozen car shops of the Cuban Transportation Ministry (Mitrans) in Santiago de Cuba province have been activated in order to support the enforcement of the new laws related to changes and conversion of motor vehicles, trailers and other on this category.
Jaime Codorniu, director of the transportation office in the province affirmed the Law No. 349 of 2019 of Mitrans regulates those processes and the processes are an adjustment and response of the need and demands of the population. This adjustment also legalizes the parts that can be modified and the government institutions authorized to approve the car modifications.
In this way, the conversion cars to pick-up-trucks or vans with an use related to personnel transportation as a private driver or a car created for a purpose and this is changed in the according facilities, can be restructured over a 50%.
Legal individuals should go to authorized facilities or the head office of the ministry, in case of a native, the owner or a proxy should go to one of those place previuosly mentioned.
In order to get the papers of the modification projects, the people should go to the Stage Office located in San Juan neighborhood, the scientific center at Oriente University, the institution of Transportation research and the provincial office of the sector. Some municipalities haven their own office to deal with the demands of the process such as Contramaestre, Palma Soriano, Songo –La Maya.
In Santiago de Cuba municipality over 5 facilities were equipped to fullil the task, two of them specialized in re-motoring such as EBRO, and the bus and truck repairing base to the reconversion.
The Mintrans´ official also added that this law has given, the pending cases and those one that were denied, a new chance to reevaluate.
In Santiago province, over 50% of the population transportation (a number that increased due to current fuel issue) depends on private contractors.
The enforcement of the law No.349 of 2019, favors motorcycle transformations that do not require technical project and report. This kind of transportation is most frequent in the province.
