The university center of the municipality of Tercer Frente was inaugurated in a ceremony lead by the acting director of higher education Ph.D. Marta Mesa Valenciana. The facility, a campus of Universidad de Oriente, aims at fulfilling the scientific demands of the municipality. The meeting also gathered high government officials  of the province such as Lázaro Expósito Canto and Beatriz Johnson Urrutia, among others.

Mr. Eduardo Alarcón Quintana, director of the university center, said that the facility includes a theather, an after-grade classroom, 7 standards classrooms, a library and a professors´ office. 937 neighbors of the country area have been graduated since 2002, the center, with 472 students, is the municipal university center with more outstanding results in the province. Current conditions make possible for the center improving the undergraduate education process, university extension and research that is developed in Universidad de Oriente.

After the inauguration meeting, in the mausoleum honoring the martyrs of the military front Tercer Frente, the government authorities placed a wreath as a tribute to Juan Almeida Bosque, founder and leader of the front.
