The neighborhood is the common ground that unites and identifies many Cubans, in this one sorrows and joys are shared, and creates and reinforces the history of each person.
For these reasons, the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) created the Barrio Award to recognize and encourage individuals, groups and families who give tirelessly to others, and by example, perseverance and tenacity, demonstrate the indestructible unity of our revolution made by the people and for the people.
Just a few days to celebrate the 55th anniversary of this popular organization, was awarded the Prize of the Barrio to the Board of Oncology and Hematology at Antonio Maria Béguez Caesar, Children's Hospital South to maintain a systematic link with the community, and receive and efficiently serve children and adolescents with intensive cancer treatments.
This room is highlighted by its workers and has the status of Collective Moral. Yocelin Rosales Pantoja, registered nurse in the oncology department, said the award is very important because it recognizes among many health centers, the care provided in this room.
"These children and young people stay longer in our service in their homes, either because they come to be treated with chemotherapy or when their rightful radiated, which also involves an extended protocol, sometimes between 20 and 25 sessions.
"Therefore, this is also their neighborhood, and also their mothers and families, we nurses, doctors, the cleaning and garde manger personal, and all in generally give our best to make them feel good,"
This recognition was accompanied by the performances of the Santiago art group "Aircoiris " which gave an evening of laughter, music, dances and cheers, to the children and their companions.
Barrio Prize is awarded by the top leadership of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution and the State Council, and is the highest award of this organization.
