Simposub'2015 in Santiago de Cuba to preserve the submerged wealths

simposubAfter two days of activities Simposub VIII (Symposium of underwater activity) in this city which has focused its presentations in the fight for the preservation of submerged wealth and knowledge of the history of sunken wrecks and material evidence.

In the Vitrales Hall of the Major General Antonio Maceo Revolution Square, figures from UNESCO, the National Heritage Council, Vice Admiral Pascual Cervera family and Topete, officials and representatives of the Spanish Armada, and scholars, divers and researchers the issue in this town, participate in theoretical sessions specially organized by the Centre for Management and Management of the Underwater Cultural and Natural Heritage in the city event.

Several presentations and lectures filled the agenda of the second day of Simposub'2015: Ships of the Spanish e4scuadra after the naval battle of July 3, 1898, Dr. Gustavo Placer Cervera; Historical significance of the wrecks of 98, by Colonel José Pardo de Santayana y Gomez de Olea, and the shipyard in Havana and Havana in the XIX century, Mary Intxaustegi ships.

They completed today's agenda: The Battle of the hills of San Juan, Dr. David odalric of Caixal i Mata; Santander Santiago, Juan Rodríguez Escrigas; Human remains in the wreck of the ship Christopher Columbus, by Angel Luis Cervera, and economic and political implications of the Hispanic Cuban-American war, Dr. Ulises Pacheco Fair and Dr. Victor Soulary Carracedo.

The second session of Simposub include afternoon art audiovisual projection beneath the waves.

Tomorrow will continue the event whose first edition took place in Havana in 1997 and the remaining seven in total, in Santiago de Cuba, in recognition of the work done here in the preservation of underwater heritage and the beauty of Santiago marine environment.
