martesWashington, Jan 28 (Prensa Latina) The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) prepares today a virtual reality mission to Mars'' surface, based on the current concepts of the space agency and aimed to simulate life as one of the first astronauts to arrive on Mars.
The virtual experience is about waking up in a Martian habitat, have breakfast, ware your space suit and go for a walk on the surface of the red planet, organizers said.

This initiative is possible thanks to a team of NASA engineers, a virtual reality developer (Fusion) and the expert of the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) PhD Sydney Do.

According to Daniel Eilemberg Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer of Fusion, with the help of NASA and Sydney Do, the experts created a real prototype of the first human explorers on Mars, as faithful to reality as the brightest minds conceive.

This will allow users to experience the Red Planet in a very attractive way, he added.

According to MIT, the Mars walk from home will have a version available to the public later this year, free of charge, through a wide range of platforms and products including Oculus Rift, Google cardboard, and Samsung VR Gear.

Also, adds the institution, this authentic experience will be available to iPhone, Android, and Twitch.
