Clashes in Paris During Protests Against Labor Plan

francia protestasrepresion1Paris, Apr 5 (Prensa Latina) Clashes and arrests have taken place in Paris today during demonstrations, organized by student organizations, against controversial labor law reforms rejected by the majority of French people.
As with earlier demonstrations, the atmosphere was tense on Tuesday and protests took place under increased security. About 130 people were arrested.

The police used tear gas to disperse a group of youngsters who threw stones, glass bottles and eggs, reported the local media.

The protests began early in the morning with the blocking of institutes and universities.

The day's demonstrations coincide with the beginning of a discussion of the labor bill in the National Assembly.

Critics point out that the changes favor business to the detriment of the rights of workers in a country where unemployment is around 10 percent.

Another day of protests is scheduled for April 9. Demostrations are organized all over the country,

Meanwhile, the Night on Foot movement, born in Paris from protests against labor project extends to other cities.

Concentrations began in the Plaza of the Republic of the so-called City of Light after the march from March 31 to reject the said plan.

Protesters have gathered in the Plaza for five consecutive nights as part of the movement, extending their demands.
